Seatbelt Safety

Most Idahoans buckle up, but we can always do better.

Initiative Goals:

  • Maintain observed seatbelt use rate above 85.2%
  • Reduce 5-year average unrestrained passenger motor vehicle fatalities to 83 or fewer by 2029
  • High-risk groups: young males 16–30, pickup truck drivers, rural drivers

It starts before you shift into drive.

Idaho has a lot to be proud of when it comes to seatbelt use. Most drivers and passengers buckle up every time they get in a car, and that simple habit is one of the most powerful ways we look out for each other on the road. It’s a decision that says the people waiting for you at home matter.

But there’s still a gap.

The data tells us there’s still room to grow and we believe that growth is something we can reach. Shift Idaho is here to keep the conversation going. When Idahoans buckle up without thinking twice, it helps move us closer to roads where more people make it home.

Lets reduce these numbers:

0
Serious Injury Crashes.
0
Idahoans Killed.
