The Power is Yours

The power is yours to make tomorrow happen.

Impaired driving is something we can all have a hand in. The responsibility to solve it doesn’t only live with experts or police. Sometimes just by saying something you can make a difference. If a friend is about to get behind the wheel and shouldn’t, speak up. Offer a ride, call a rideshare for them, or point them to your couch for the night.

You have the same power on your own nights out. Plan your ride home before you leave. It’s a simple decision that takes the guesswork out of the night, and it’s one of the clearest ways to make sure you and everyone around you makes it home safe.

“Parents want to make sure their kids are transported safely and correctly. That’s why we’re here.”

— Carma McKinnon: Child Passenger Safety Coordinator for Idaho

“You start drinking when you’re sober. So finish that sober thought of—what am I going to do after I drink? How am I going to get home? Where am I going to stay?”

— Jennifer Z: Idaho Sober Driving Advocate

Tips for making good choices

  • Say something. Be the friend that doesn’t take no for an answer.
  • Offer easy solutions. Better to crash on a couch than on a road.
  • Plan your sober ride home before you leave.
  • Keep a rideshare app ready, just in case.
